Converting Signalink USB as TNC using AGWPE

You don’t need to purchase expensive TNC modems for packet data. You can simply use Signalink USB or soundcard and a software to be used as KISS TNC on Windows PC.

In order to do so you need to download AGWPE from SV2AGW website. Download the HAMware and extract files to PC. Make sure the Plugin and turn on your Signalink USB interface.

Run “AGW Packet Engine.exe”

On the Task bar right hand side right click on the AGW logo.

Click on “Properties”. It will bring you to “Port selection Menu”.

Select “New Port”.

On this section You have to do the Follwoing:

Select the COM port number which is not listed in “Windows Device Manager”.

TNC type is “Soundcard”.

TNC Control Commands should be blank, but select Single port.

Now click on “Options” under the TNC type.

Deselect “Full Duplex Driver”. Left Channel “On Air Baud Rate” select to “9600”, Right Channel “On Air Baud Rate” select to “1200”. Select the Signalink in “Sound Card Selection” it normally shows up as “Line [2- USB AUDIO CODEC]” Press OK.

Now on the Port selection we can name the Port.

Leave rest of the settings as it is. Press OK. AGWPE will ask you to restart the program.

Once restarted, small modem icon will show up next to AGWPE icon in taskbar. It means AGWPE TNC is up and running.

Now you can select TNC port in APRS apps like YAAC or any other PACKET Radio apps like WINLINK.
