Data mode for TCA/PRC-152 using DIY cable for SignaLink USB
I made a cable for TCA/PRC-152 to use it for digital modes like VARA FM, SSTV and RTTY. Initial thought was to use this cable with AIOC cable with possibility to be able to programme the radio.
However when I tried and tested different pinouts on U229 connector with no luck for programming the radio and AIOC cable also failed to trigger the PTT via COM port. So I had to switch to SignaLink USB for digital mode. I used a RJ45 Cat6 cable with U229 connector. SignaLink USB have a relay PTT switch so was successful.
Pinouts for U229 to SignaLink are as follows:
U229 connector Pinouts | |
A | Ground |
B | Audio out (from radio) |
C | PTT |
D | Audio in (to radio) |
E | N/C |
F | N/C |
Initial test was SSTV using TCA/PRC-152 and Wouxun KG-UV9D. 152 was connected to Laptop via SignaLink USB running Windows 11 OS and UV9D was connected to Android Phone using AIOC in VOX.
Test was conducted at 5 meters distance with low TX power on VHF (145.600 MHz).
