How to manually program TCA/PRC-152 radio using keypad.
This is simple guide to program TCA/PRC-152 (2023 build Non-GPS) from keypad.
Common starting steps:
Power on the radio by twisting volume knob to 1. Switch the radio in VFO mode by press and hold “0”. Enter the Menus by pressing “ENT”. In Menu go to option “-32” and select the “Zone” from A-H. exit the Menu.
For Simplex Frequency:
Using the keypad type the frequency. Once frequency is selected press and hold “ENT” for 3 seconds. A number form 01-16 will star flashing on right side of screen. use “+-” to select the channel number and press “ENT”.
For Duplex Frequency:
Using the keypad type the Radio RX frequency. Press and Hold “7”. Left of the screen is to Select CTC/ DCS code by pressing “+-”
. Use “Left” “Right” key to move to next option Mid left you can change TX power between LOW/ MID/ HIGH. Mid right to select “+” “-” off set. Right side is to select off set frequency for TX.
Example:
If you want to program duplex for a repeater which have TX frequency is 438.750MHZ uses 69.3 CTC and RX at 430.750MHz.
- On TCA/PRC-152 type the frequency 438.7500.
- Press and hold “7”.
- Left option using “+-” select 69.3.
- Mid Left as desired.
- Mid Right select “-“.
- Right select “09.000”.
Press and hold “ENT” for 3 seconds. A number form 01-16 will star flashing on right side of screen. use “+-” to select the channel number and press “ENT”.
Common final steps:
Enter the Menus by pressing “ENT”. Menu option “-23” “CHNAME” should be on. Menu Option “-24” “NAME” press “ENT” to edit the name.
After saving the channel name Press and Hold “0” to switch to Channel mode.
